Anal Warts (Condyloma Acuminata):
Caused by HPV, these warts appear around/inside the anus or on genital skin.
Symptoms:
- Often painless but may cause itching, irritation, or bleeding as they grow.
Causes:
- Spread through direct contact (sexual/hand-to-anal). Higher risk for those with weakened immunity (e.g., HIV, diabetes).
Diagnosis:
- Physical exam, digital rectal exam, anoscopy/proctoscopy, or speculum exam (for women).
Treatment:
- Topical medications for small warts.
- Surgical removal for larger or thickened warts.
Importance:
- Early treatment prevents growth and reduces anal cancer risk. Regular screenings are advised for at-risk individuals.
